Laela Jeyne Summer Collection Tour

Laela Jeyne Patterns is releasing their new Summer Collection. And guess who was invited to join the corresponding Blog Tour…this gal, right here! 😍

I chose to sew up the NEW Lily Blouse. As a busy mom of 4 kids, easy-to-wear (and style) clothing is high up on my priority list of clothes to sew. This top has a nice classic, goes-with-everything design. Which I LOVE. Simply throw it on over a pair of jeans, and you’re good to go!

The Lily Blouse has an exposed zipper in the back. Totally on-trend right now! 😍 I used a zipper in a contrasting color to highlight this design feature, and I just love how it turned out. My husband failed to tell me during our photo shoot that mine wasn’t quite zipped all the way, though. Men…… 😍

You can find so many decorative zippers out there that would be perfect for a project like this. I used these ones from Amazon. Just $10 for 10 – 7 in. zippers. Pretty good deal! And, they look great and work really well.

😍 Another cool design element I like about the Lily Blouse is the front pleats. They are subtle (my husband didn’t even notice them at first) but they give the blouse a nice, flattering shape around the chest area. Nice! I need all the help I can get with my little A-cups, lol!

Super-Duper Quick ‘How To’….

I did take a little artistic liberty with the sleeves, though. As apposed to turning the hems under, per the pattern instructions, I rolled them UP instead. The wrong side of this Robert Kaufman double gauze (purchased from Raspberry Creek Fabrics) looks just as cool as the right side. It would be a shame if no one got to see it. 😍 It only seemed appropriate to show it off with a rolled sleeve! And, I like the casual vibe it adds to my Summer blouse.

If you’ve never done a rolled sleeve before, you’ll be happy to find that it is sooooo totally easy. Here is how I converted my sleeve to a rolled sleeve: 😍

Super-Duper Quick Rolled Sleeve “How to”
Add 1 in. of length to your sleeves.
Finish hem with a zig-zag stitch or serger.
Fold your newly finished edge (right sides facing) up 3/8 in. (or 1/2 in. according to seam allowance provided with the pattern you are using).
Then, Fold up again. This time, 1 in.
Hand sew a single stitch on the front, back and each side to hold in place.

Done! See? That was waaayyy easy! 😍

All in all, I am super happy with my Lily Blouse. Can’t wait to try out some of the other patterns in the new Laela Jeyne Summer Collection. Maybe I’ll even get bold enough to sew up the adorable new swimsuit in the collection. 😍 Ha ha, we’ll see!
