Laela Jeyne Wanderlust Blog Tour
I’m taking a short break from business building to have a little fun (we all need a little fun once in a while, amiright?) So, when Laela Jeyne patterns announced their Wanderlust Blog Tour to celebrate their 3rd anniversary and release of the new Wanderlust Collection, I jumped on board! 😀
I’ll tell you what. This tour couldn’t have come at a better time. This little girl seems to have had a major growth spurt recently. Like, literally an inch (at least!) in the past month! Can you believe that? All of her pants are looking more like capris at this point. So glad the new Wanderlust collection is all about Pants. The new Wren Skinny Jeans for girls are perfect!
Btw: The Wren Skinny Jeans have a real zipper fly! Not a faux fly, like most other kids pants patterns. But, if the prospect of sewing in a zipper fly makes you wanna run for the hills, fear not! They are actually super simple. And, the instructions walk you through it, step-by-step. Anyway, it’s always so gratifying to give something new a try… and have it work!
And, just look at how cute they pants turned out… <3
Check out that pocket detail!
Working with so many vintage embroidered linens for the Etsy shop, tends to leave one inspired. I have recently been trying my hand at embroidery. At this point, my skills are only basic at best. Totally makes me appreciate the art that much more!
A Sweeter Deal
The pattern designer was gracious enough to let us pick a complementary pattern from her shop to sew up along with the new pants. Nice!
I chose to sew up the Emmy T-Shirt to go with her new pants. This not so basic t-shirt is a super quick sew, and has several options included with the pattern. Living in the Pacific Northwest, I chose the hood option on this one. Unfortunately, we picked the windiest day EVER to take our pics. No chance of seeing the hood on today. lol
The Emmy T-shirt also has a few elbow patches to chose from as well. With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, the hearts seemed like a natural choice. <3
A little bird told me there may be a giveaway happening on the Laela Jeyne blog right now. There are some great prizes to be won over there. Including FABRIC! Go check it out.
But, then there’s this…..
Have you ever had one of those projects where nothing went right? Well, this was one of them. Seemed like no matter what I did, everything just kept going wrong. Between cutting pieces backwards, reading the instructions wrong, sewing pieces upside down….let’s just say I spent more time unpicking than actually sewing on this one. No reflection on the patterns I used here! Just my own stupidity. Happens to the best of us, right?
Maybe it’s a sign to stay focused on the business, eh? If we’re being totally honest, my mind has been so wrapped up in researching and learning the ins and outs of my business, I wasn’t as enthused about sewing clothes as I would normally be.
Speaking of business…
Did you notice my new watermark? Eek, I’m so excited! Looks so much better than what I was using before. I still can’t believe I designed that all by little ol’ self. (For more details on that, check out my last post in My Quest to Build a Better Etsy Business series).
