Updated Portlander Pants – New Shorts Length
Guess What! The Updated Portlander Pants Pattern is HERE!
You know those Portlander Pants from New Horizons Designs that have been trending in all the sewing groups? Those super cozy, wide-legged, lounge pants everyone’s been sewing all Winter long, in ALL the floral polys and French terries? Yeah, THOSE ONES! Well, the pattern has been revised and updated for Summer to include a new shorts length. And, I guarantee the Portlanders will be just as popular for warmer weather as they were for the Fall and Winter 😀
I sewed my Portlander Shorts in a super soft and cozy rayon French terry I got from a Knitpop Mystery box a while back. Some might think that French terry would be too warm for Summer. Quite the contrary, actually! When it comes to shorts, French terry is very comfortable. My husband’s favorite Nike athletic shorts are made from terry. It just works!
However, sometimes French terry doesn’t always have the best recovery. The Portlanders feature a banded waistband, as apposed to one with an elastic casing. So, to avoid a saggy waistband, I went ahead and used a scrap* of double brushed poly instead. Doesn’t get any cozier than this! <3
*Remember this brilliant fuschia DBP I used for my Pinterest Inspired top? Check out that post HERE!
In addition to the new shorter length, the revised Portlander pattern now includes pockets! The original pattern didn’t. The designer did a blog post a while back with a pocket pattern piece for those interested in adding them. But, now there is no need to search out old blog posts. It’s all included. NICE!

Remember that #makenine pledge I took at the beginning of the year?
Well, the Portlanders were on that list (see bottom, right corner). This officially counts as my second #makenine of the year.
Yeah, yeah, yeah…I know. We are 6 months in and this is only my second make from the list. First was the Elevation Hoodie, also from New Horizons (see post HERE). I’m pretty lame when it comes to setting (and sticking to) goals. But, hey! There are still 6 months left to go in 2017……
So, grab a drink and relax! Lol. I promise I’ll get better 😉
