Well, I finished my 1st project for #2017MakeNine! That was fast, right?
And, in sewing this hoodie, I overcame one of my greatest sewing fears…..The dreaded Welt Pocket! I once read somewhere that welt pockets were “not for the faint of heart” and I’ve been avoiding them ever since.
But, honestly? I don’t know what I was so afraid of. These were totally easy!
One of the things I love about the Elevation Hoodie (well, there are a LOT of things I love about this hoodie but this is just one of them, lol) is that it’s a great scrap buster. All those projects I did in 2016 have left me with a mother-load of scraps taking up space in my tiny sewing area. I’m sure I’ll be doing a lot more projects this year revolved around using those up.
For this hoodie, I used Raspberry Creek Fabrics Club Floral French terry left over from a Vermont Cardigan (also from New Horizons) I did recently. This floral was so popular, and now it’s sold out! So, none of this will go to waste! I still have a very small remnant left, too. Use it for patches, maybe? Lol, we’ll see 😉
This Eggplant French terry was also a real popular one over at Raspberry Creek. I just love this color and hope it comes back. It went together so beautifully with the floral <3
BTW: There’s this little rumor going around that a Men’s Elevation Hoodie is due to come sometime soon. My oldest son is wearing men’s sizes now (how did this happen?) and has been deprived of an Elevation Hoodie. Oh! I can’t wait! 😀
So, there we have it. Project 1 down! 8 more to go 😉
Until next time….. <3
