Whether you have had a battle with cancer, or have experienced the loss of a loved one, most of us have a personal connection of some sort to cancer. But there is nothing more heartbreaking than when cancer victimizes a child…..
Many years ago, my Aunt and Uncle experienced that heartbreak. Their little girl (my cousin) was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma at the far-too-young age of 3. Doctors said she wouldn’t make it to her 5th birthday. But she was a warrior! And when her 5th birthday rolled around, she was in a state of remission! And, Oh! She had the biggest and most heartfelt birthday party a parent could ever throw for their child. In addition, her parents did (and still do) what they could to help raise money and awareness for pediatric cancer.
So in honor of them, and all families who have fought this battle, I have joined an elite team of bloggers to help raise money and spread the word about the need for better treatments for pediatric cancer. The Bloggers for Pediatric Cancer Warriors will be holding an auction of handmade goods October 27-28. Be sure to save the date and come support us!
All money raised will go to the American Childhood Cancer Organization (ACCO). The ACCO was started by a group of mothers to cancer warriors. They are dedicated to helping make life easier for the families of childhood cancer victims and increasing awareness to the need for more research toward the development of pediatric cancer treatments. For more info about the organization or to make a donation to their cause, visit their website HERE.
Here is my contribution to the auction. A size 10, boys hoodie. Pattern is the Elevation Hoodie by New Horizons Designs. Recognize that fabric? It’s from Raspberry Creek Fabrics Club line. If you’re interested, please go bid on the 27th-28th. And remember, it’s a charity event so bid high! 😉
To call attention to this cause, I am hosting my very first GIVE AWAY! And it’s an awesome one!

~The Oslo Cardigan (featured in their Dec 2014 lauch issue) – The coziest cadigan ever! You can bet this will be a staple in my fall wardrobe this year 🙂
The Aberdeen Top (featured in the March 2015 issue) – A simple batwing (or dolman-styled) top. But check out that neckline!
Needless to say, I can’t wait to sew up more patterns from Seamwork in the months to come!
