It may not feel like it yet, but Fall is just right around the corner. And I can’t wait! It’s always been my favorite time of year. After a stifling hot Summer, the crisp, cool air of Fall is a welcome treat. And of course, with cooler weather comes warm drinks and warm clothes. I LOVE afternoon lattes and wearing sweaters and layers and anything soft and cozy.
That said, I’ve been on this dolman obsession lately. Nothing screams Fall like a good dolman top. If you’re not familiar with what a dolman is, it’s basically a top with wide sleeves on top that taper down at the wrist. Usually the bodice and shoulders are cut from one fabric piece (as apposed to a separate sleeve piece). It’s a super comfortable, yet fashionable, design.
So, I was more than excited to test out the new Dublin Dolman from New Horizons Designs. There are a lot of dolman patterns out there, but have you ever seen one with SO MANY options?! Holy cow! Just imagine the possibilities with so much to choose from. 😀
I decided to use this blue, textured sweater knit for mine. It’s super lightweight and has good drape. Can’t say for sure the type of sweater knit. Hatchi maybe? It was among many different cuts of sweater knit I got in a mystery sweater box from Knitpop. 🙂
Since it’s still pretty warm outside, I went with short sleeves for this top. It can always be layered with a long sleeve undershirt or a cardigan when it gets cooler. I also went with the basic neckline and bodice and the tall band for the bottom.
But, you wanna know the best part? (Other than being super flattering and comfortable at the same time.) This top took less than an hour to sew up! My goodness! If you like instant gratification (I know I do) than this is the pattern for you 😀
Oh! I can’t wait to make more of these with all the sweater knit I got in my mystery box. Of course, I’ll be doing some with long sleeves too. I’m also really excited to try the gathered front version. 😀
To get your hands on the Dublin Dolman pattern, go visit New Horizons Designs. It’s on sale at a discounted intro price so go get it now!
Also check out some of the other cool weather patterns in the shop too. I can’t wait to use up some of my french terry to make the Harbor Hoodie! So chic <3
