Day 5 of the Kids Clothes Week challenge:
So far for the Kids Clothes Week challenge, I’ve been sewing garments that don’t really go along with the theme of my shop and blog. Vintage linens, in particular vintage embroidery, is my preferred material. I love the idea that someone from a past era took the time to create something beautiful. It’s a shame so many of these linens get stored away and forgotten. It’s my mission to reinvent these items so people can enjoy them again. So why not get back to my passion? My submission for Day 5 of the Kids Clothes Week challenge started out as a vintage pillowcase embroidered with adorable little lambs hopping over a fence. So cute, it had to be used for a little girl’s dress.
Normally I draft my own patterns, but for this challenge I thought it would fun to try someone else’s. There are so many great blogs and websites out there to find inspiration from, it makes it hard to chose. I finally came across one that seems perfect for this project. This pattern, Retro Reproduction Dress, is a super cute and simple vintage style dress by I Sew You Sew. Even better? It was FREE! And, it was easy to work with, which is more than I can say for some patterns I’ve actually payed for. The final product is an adorable little dress with vintage/retro appeal. Love it!
Well, there are 2 more days of this challenge to go. Not sure what my next project will be yet. So stay tuned…..:)
