Dreamy Drape Top

Well, look who’s feeling like her old self again! After being cooped up in the house all week battling a yucky stomach flu, this little monkey is happy to get out <3

And, it’s a beautiful day for climbing trees….

So, we paid a little visit to the Island Farm and Historic Society for some fresh air.

But, after a week of hanging out in our pj’s, we are still seeking comfort. So a pair of cute and cozy leggings with an adorably, drapey sweater seemed like the way to go. Isn’t it cute?

The leggings were purchased for a mere $5.99 at Target. We don’t buy too many clothes for her anymore (I sew them all now), but she spotted these while we were waiting to get a prescription filled and it was love at first sight.

The top she is wearing is the newest pattern just released from Mummykins and Me. The Dreamy Drape Top is a loose and drapey batwing top that offers plenty of style, with lots of comfort. I used a light-weight sweater knit to sew this one, but any drapey knit with 4-way stretch would be perfect for this top.

With 3 older brothers, she is not your typical little girl. In Summer time, we get lots of little bats here on the island that come to eat the mosquitos. Most little girls (um, adults too!) get squeamish about bats, but she gets excited about them! She thought it was so cool when I called this a “batwing” top and she has decided that this is her “bat shirt”, lol!

Fly away!…..

So, here are the details about the Dreamy Drape Top:

  • Choose between a diagonal hem or a band (I did the banded version).
  • 3 sleeve lengths. Long sleeve, 3/4 sleeve, or no sleeves (shirt still comes down to elbow length on the sleeveless version).
  • 2 different neck finishes include a t-shirt style band or binding.
  • Girl’s sizes 0-12 years
  • Women’s sizes XXS-5XL
  • Even a doll version (18in.)

BTW: This easily constructed top is perfect for beginners! An experienced seamstress can whip up this top in less than an hour. 😀

Woo hoo!

I can’t wait to make one for me! I still have lots of super drapey rayon spandex left over from last Summer. Or maybe some double brushed poly…..Hmmm. The wheels are turning….. 😉

The Dreamy Drape pattern is on sale now! Go get the Mommy and Me Bundle for even more savings 😉

Happy sewing <3
