2017 Make Nine

Well I’m a little late to the game, but I have decided to participate in 2017 Make Nine. I’ve never been one to ascribe to New Years resolutions (maybe that’s why it took me so long). So instead, I am looking at this as more of a chance to build my wardrobe with practical clothing that I am actually likely to wear everyday.

As a stay-at-home Mom, I am always looking for comfortable clothes that I am not embarassed to leave the house in, lol! Through 2016, I have sewn a lot of cozy tops like Dolmans and sweaters. But no pants.

In fact, I have always been nervous to sew pants for fear of not getting the right fit. I am pear-shaped and have an exagerated curve to my lower back that makes finding pants that don’t gap fairly difficult. I always need new pants, but hate shopping for them. So, I think my struggle to find well-fitting pants has detered me from venturing into that sewing relm.

Then again, isn’t that one of the main reasons we sew? To make clothes to our specific measurements and body types?

So with that, I give you my list of 9 patterns (in no particular order) I would like sew this year, with a focus on pants and comfortable tops. Many of these pattern, I already own. Some of them, I will have to convince my wonderful husband to let me buy, lol 😉

My #2017MakeNine picks:

Womens Elevation Hoodie by New Horizons Designs: I have sewn a bunch of these hoodies for my kids and they always get tons of complements on them. So when the Womens version came out, I wasted no time in buying it….but then, never sewed it. Better do this one while it’s still cold enough out to wear, eh? 😉

Mama Claire Two-Way Dolman by Made for Mermaids: This is a new pattern that just release recently. I love the cross-over feature! And, Dolmans are sew easy to sew up. Big plus for me 😉

S.O.S. Knit Pants by Patterns for Pirates: Been eyeballing these for a while now. Love wearing skinny jeans with boots under my Dolmans. These seem like they would be a whole lot cozier than jeans too.

Amsterdam All-Weather Ladies Coat by Mummykins and Me: Another one I’ve been eyeballing for a while. This coat is so classy and is also available in kids sizes. Matching Mommy and Me coats?!

Sante Fe Top by Hey June: Bought this pattern last year when it released but never sewed it up. Even bought fabric specifically for this top, but just never got around to it. Would be perfect under a cardigan now while it’s still cold, then by itself for Summer.

Portlander Pants by New Horizons Designs: These pants would be perfect for weekend loungewear. I’ve had this pattern for a while and been afraid to sew it…because it’s pants. Lol 😉

St. Tropez Top by Mummykins and Me: Oh, that back feature! I was a tester for the kids version of this pattern. Would love one (umm…several) of these for myself too!

Moji Pants from Seamwork Magazine: Another pants pattern I have had, but been afraid of. They are so stinkin’ cute though! Will definitely give it a try.

Brassie Joggers by Greenstyle Creations: Yup! More pants, lol! This is such a popular pattern in the sewing world. I keep seeing all the awesome versions others are sewing and am looking forward to trying it out.

So there we have it. My 9 pics for the new year. Of course, I will keep you all posted on how these projects turn out as they come to fruition, and give you my best review of these patterns as I perceive them.

Until next time….❤
