As the winner of the Oliver + S Swingset Skirt Sew Along, I suddenly had access to so many great sewing patterns! It was so hard to choose only $100 worth but I think I got a pretty good selection. And if that wasn’t enough of a challenge, now I have to decide which one to sew first. Oh, it’s such a hard life 😉
Ultimately, I decided to start with something quick and simple (I like that instant gratification). The Roller Skate Dress definitely fit the bill. The pattern itself is only 2 pieces so it was easy to print and put together. Less cutting and taping = the sooner I can get sewing.
Anna picked out the fabric for this dress. Normally I like to sew with vintage linens, but for a toddler it’s good to have some practical pieces as well. She climbed up on my lap while I was browsing through fabric online and immediately took over. Needless to say I spent a bit more than I initially planned. But if I’m going to go to the trouble to sew her something, it might as well be something she likes, right?
And boy does she like this one! The fabric she chose is Dear Stella Enchanted Secret Forest in gray. She LOVES cute animals and this fabric certainly delivers. The dress itself is super comfortable and easy to move around in. She can dance and play and roller skate (if she knew how) all day. Normally we like to take our photos outside, but when it’s only in the 2o’s out (pretty chilly for our little corner of the world) we stay in!
Sorry for the blurry photos. My tiny dancer wouldn’t hold still 😉
